Räckesbutiken – From Glass Workshop to Nordic Railing Specialist
Räckesbutiken is a Swedish specialist in custom-made railings, with in-house manufacturing, design, and engineering in Ängelholm. Since the idea was conceived in 2008, we have grown into one of the Nordic region’s leading providers of glass railings, aluminum railings, stainless steel railings, and handrails —with customers and deliveries in eleven European countries. Here you can read more about our story, our production, our safety efforts, and our long-term owners.
Our Story—From the 2008 Glass Project to an Independent Specialist
Räckesbutiken began in 2008 as a project within Villans Glas, an established glass company in Ängelholm. The idea was simple but novel for its time: to make it possible to design and order custom-made railings directly online, without waiting times or trips to a store. In late 2010, Räckesbutiken Sweden AB became an independent company. Throughout the 2010s, we grew from a Swedish niche company into an international supplier. We expanded into Norway, Denmark, and Finland, and subsequently into Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Today, we deliver railings through our own online stores in eleven European countries, but all railings are still manufactured at our production facility in Ängelholm—this remains the foundation of our offering.
This is what Räckesbutiken stands for
From the very beginning, our vision has been to make it easy to order safe, sustainable, and stylish railings online—without compromising on quality, design, or delivery time. Three values underpin everything we do:
- Quality Through In-House Manufacturing – We own the entire process, from design and engineering to production and delivery. This means we have full control over materials, dimensions, and final quality—and can guarantee a railing that will withstand the Swedish climate for many years.
- Custom sizing at no extra cost – Every railing we manufacture is custom-made to your exact measurements. You don’t pay extra for custom sizing—that’s just how we always work. This ensures that the railing fits perfectly right away, without you having to settle for a standard size that’s “almost a good fit.”
- Secure online shopping – With our configurator, you can design your railing step by step and see the price and delivery time right away—no quote, no waiting. We also have a personalized customer service team that will assist you every step of the way, from your first question about measurements to after delivery.
If you'd like to see what this means in practice, you'll find the entire product line under " Railings," and the solutions are sorted by location under " Environments."
Where are the railings manufactured?
All of our railings are manufactured at our own production facility in Ängelholm, where our headquarters are also located. Across 2,000 square meters, we’ve brought together design, development, and manufacturing under one roof—which allows us to make decisions quickly and gives us full control over every railing that leaves the factory.
The fact that production takes place in Sweden is a key factor for both quality and sustainability. Local manufacturing reduces transportation distances and carbon dioxide emissions, while also enabling short lead times and millimeter-level precision. The close collaboration between the design team and the factory means we can quickly respond to customer requests, accommodate custom dimensions, and tailor each railing to the specific conditions where it will be installed.
How do I know the railing is safe?
Our manufacturing process is certified in accordance with EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011—the European standard for the design and execution of steel and aluminum structural work—and we conduct our own impact tests on our glass railings in accordance with the regulations of the Nordic Balcony Association.
To help you choose the right railing based on the environment in which it will be used, we display the usage class (A+, A, B, or C) directly in the configurator, so you can see what the design is intended for: a balcony, rooftop terrace, ground-level patio, or public space.
The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building, and Planning’s new building codes have been fully in effect since July 1, 2026, and no longer specify a minimum railing height in millimeters. Instead, the height must correspond to how the area is used and the height of the drop. We’ll go over what this means in practice in the railing section and in the safety guide.
The Räckesbutiken in 11 European countries
Räckesbutiken currently delivers custom-made railings through its own online stores in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and the United Kingdom. Despite our international presence, all railings are manufactured at our facility in Ängelholm—customers always receive the same Swedish quality, regardless of which market the order comes from. Free shipping is offered in Sweden and in all markets where we operate.
Who owns Räckesbutiken?
Räckesbutiken is owned by Beijerinvest, a family-owned Swedish investment company. Beijerinvest became the majority owner in 2019 and has owned the entire company since 2022.
Beijerinvest is characterized by a long-term perspective, solid expertise, a focus on business development, and financial strength—qualities that provide Räckesbutiken with the stability we need to invest in growth, sustainability, and an enhanced customer experience over time.
For you as a customer, this means a secure purchase from a company with a clear long-term vision—not a quick sale or a reseller with no control over quality.
