Start with the dimensions of the opening, the proposed fixings, the appearance you want and the requirements that apply where the balustrade will be installed. A Juliet balcony balustrade sits in front of a door or full-height window and normally provides fall protection, so it must be correctly specified and securely anchored.
Glass preserves light and views; vertical bars provide an open yet defined barrier, while wrought-iron-style designs create a traditional look. The balustrade is made to suit the width and height of the opening and the façade material. Where children may be present, consider the size of openings and potential climbing risks. As Juliet balconies are often relatively small, their total cost can be lower than that of a standard balcony balustrade.
A Juliet balcony consists of a fixed balustrade outside a glazed door, without a projecting balcony platform. It provides light, fresh air and a sense of openness, and is common on upper floors where a full balcony would not fit. Because the balustrade provides fall protection, both the balustrade and its fixings must be specified to suit the opening and supporting façade.
Each Juliet balcony is made to measure at our factory in Ängelholm to fit the door opening, whether its dimensions are standard or bespoke.
Glass creates a light, almost invisible barrier while preserving the view from inside. Depending on the product, we use toughened and laminated safety glass. An interlayer between the panes helps hold the glass together if it breaks. Our Lumo system is designed for glass Juliet balconies.
Powder-coated aluminium gives the balustrade a more defined outline that can be matched to window frames and the façade. We offer a choice of RAL colours. Explore our full range of aluminium balustrades.
The balustrade is fixed to the building’s load-bearing structure, not the door frame. We consider the façade construction – such as insulated render, brick or timber – when selecting fixings, which must always suit the substrate and supporting structure.
The manufacturing process is certified to EN 1090-1. Production is subject to ongoing checks by RISE, focusing on traceability, quality and the manufacturing process.
The price depends on width, height, materials and fixings. A narrow aluminium Juliet balcony generally costs less than a wider glass design. Our 3D configurator updates the price as you change the dimensions and materials.
The balustrade is supplied as a complete kit with made-to-measure profiles, glass and fixings, together with installation instructions for your order. If you would like to add a handrail, Lira is available in oak, stainless steel or aluminium.
